Touraine: "I chose to join Playcast because it has the most promising offering in the cloud gaming market today"

Media executive Agnès Touraine has joined Playcast Media System's board of directors. Playcast Media is one of the world's leading cloud gaming providers. It enables Pay-TV subscribers to play AAA games, for a monthly fee, at a quality hitherto known only on game consoles. Users do not require any additional hardware besides their set-top-boxes.

Today (Tuesday, January 25), Bouygues Telecom announced it will be using Playcast's platform to launch France's first console-quality gaming service on Pay-TV. The platform is already live in Portugal Telecom and Singtel in Singapore.

Agnès is the former Chairman and CEO of Vivendi Universal Publishing , the world's third-largest producer of video games and educational publications with €4 billion in revenues. Under her management, Vivendi acquired, and later sold, gaming giant Blizzard Entertainment - publisher of such games as World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo among others. Before that, she was head of Lagardère/Hachette's Consumer Publishing division and spent four years with McKinsey & Co. Agnès is currently a member of the board at Neopost, Coriolis. , and on the not-for-profit side, onFondation de France, IFA and FAF. In addition, Agnès heads Act III Consultants/ActIIIGaming, a management consulting firm dedicated to digital transformation and serious gaming.

"I joined Playcast because I believe it has the most promising offering in the cloud gaming market today. It is the major player in a market which is now the most important field in the media industry. Everybody within the modern family is playing on multiple devices - from AAA games to casual phone games. Playcast's system is a new step towards a better consumer experience, as it will allow players to access all top games on their TV sets without having to buy DVDs or consoles."

According to Guy De Beer, CEO of Playcast Media, "Agnès Touraine has been hugely helpful to us with her global reach and unprecedented understanding of the industry and its future. We are more than pleased to welcome her to our board."
