Playcast provides PayTV networks, such as Cable, IPTV or Hybrid DBS a client–server based game streaming solution, in which the audio-visual content is stored and processed in the head-end. It is then streamed to the set-top box or the PC as an MPEG stream. In this application, Playcast places its video streaming system alongside conventional VoD “pumps”, integrating with the existing back-office systems (Resource Management, Billing, CA etc.). Playcast can also provide a pure OTT model that can provide the service to your broadband clients ‘off-network’.

Content-wise, the set-top box simply decodes a standard MPEG stream, and runs an interactive application, similar to a VoD client, which passes the gamepad commands from the set-top-box back to the server system in the head end. The PC service runs with keyboard and mouse or gamepad.

On the content side, Playcast presents a turnkey, packaged solution. This service includes full engagement and royalties settlement with game publishers, as well as title selection and packaging for a variety of transaction models (Subscription, ְ-la-carte, CPS Models etc.).
