There are truly some weird and wonderful world records games that have been broken over the years, with the Guinness Book of World Records a firm favourite on many a Christmas list, displaying all the successful feats of recording-breaking attempts.

But when it comes to the classic game of Bingo, there’s no exception. Think big balls, big games and even bigger amounts of fun to be had – there are certainly some interesting Bingo-related world records.

Record #1 – Greatest Win at In-House Bingo 

We know that playing Bingo is all about the fun of the game, with the majority of players only winning a maximum three-digit prize. But for some, playing Bingo has a led to a life-changing win.

In the Guinness list of world records, the official largest amount of money won at a game based in a Bingo Hall, was an impressive £1,101,686 which was awarded to Christine Bradfield. She won the staggering amount as a result of a National Bingo Game played at the Castle Leisure Bingo Club in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, on 27th January 2008.

In the same year, there was allegedly another huge win at an In-House Bingo game, this time in Coatbridge, Scotland. On 25th March 2008, Soraya Lowell was rewarded with the huge sum of £1,167,795 after winning the National Bingo Game Platinum Jackpot at The Club 3000.

Record #2 – Largest Bingo Ticket and Bingo Balls

According to Guinness World Records, not only did the Gila River Hotel and Casino break the record for the largest Bingo ticket, the team also managed to beat the record for the largest set of Bingo balls!

On 25th April 2019, the casino in Chandler, Arizona of the US, created the huge scaled version of the full Bingo set including massive Bingo balls measuring in at 121.92cm (4ft) diameter and a ticket that was 37.16m² (400ft²).

This record beat the previous attempt by a famous online Bingo site, where a giant game of Bingo was played on the set of Coronation Street in Manchester, UK. At this point in time, the balls used in the game were an impressive 60.1cm (23.7inches) in size.

Record #3 – Largest Games of Bingo

Another record listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, involves 70,080 participants. On 2nd December 2006, this huge number of people took part in the largest game of traditional Bingo. The event was organised by Almacenes Exito S.A. – a business in Bogotá, Colombia and the largest retailer in South America.

The record-breaking crowd turned up for the open-air event, where all the participants simultaneously played the Bingo game and involved a hefty £250,000 worth of cash prizes that were won.

Record #4 – Largest Online Bingo Games

It’s not just in brick-and-mortar Bingo halls where the classic game is played. As we all know, online Bingo has increased in popularity over the years, which leads us to our next ground-breaking world record.

On 3rd September 2010, the Japanese branch of Coco-Cola, in Tokyo, entered the book of Guinness World Records, by organising the largest online Bingo Game. 493,824 members of Coco-Cola Park participated in the world record attempt, where those involved took part in a single online Bingo game, all at the same time.
